Generation of the Mathematical Excercises for High Schools and Elementary Schools
Janečka, Jan ; Straka, Martin (referee) ; Kaštil, Jan (advisor)
This thesis is considering genetic algorithms as a~means for generating math exam exercises for elementary and high schools. There are two kinds of exercises implemented: linear equations with variable in numerator and verbal rider about movement. Each of of these exercises offer several options to tune. Output generated by this implementation consists of two pdf files - one with plain exercises and one with solutions to each one of them.
The effect of Singapore mathematics on the mathematical self-efficacy of elementary school pupils
Šulcová, Pavla ; Jančařík, Antonín (advisor) ; Jirotková, Darina (referee)
This diploma thesis partly follows from the research of Smetáčková and Vozková who developed a Czech mathematical self-efficacy questionnaire. It examines the student's mathematical self-efficacy, i.e. the student's belief about his ability to successfully work on solving mathematical problems, depending on gender, year and the type of word problems used. It is also dedicated to teaching, describing solutions and student strategies for solving word problems in the form of two types of Singaporean problems - What number makes sense and What question can you answer. It describes the mathematics teaching in Singapore, which is repeatedly placed in the top ranks in international testing. 53 pupils in the 4th and 5th year of elementary school participated in the research lasting 5 weeks. The students filled out a mathematical self-efficacy questionnaire at the beginning and end of the research. During the research, the 4th graders were presented with 8 Singapore- type problems What question can you answer, and the 5th graders were presented with 10 traditional-type or Singapore-type problems What number makes sense. Hypotheses were tested with a two-sample F-test. No difference in mathematical self- efficacy was demonstrated for boys and girls. The 4th -grade students rated as more mathematically...
Selected parameters influencing the difficulty of word problems
Vokounová, Lenka ; Novotná, Jarmila (advisor) ; Vondrová, Naďa (referee)
This thesis deals with selected parameters influencing the difficulty of word problems and also the student's ability to solve them. The aim of the thesis is to theoretically look into it and practically test some of these parameters from the project of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic number 16-06134S - Word Problems as a Key to Application and Understanding of Mathematical Concepts and point out the difficulties that mathematics teachers may not perceive at first sight and consider as a problem. The first part of the thesis is devoted to word problems in general. It deals with the importance of word problems in mathematics lessons, classification of word problems. Finally, it deals with the solution of word problems. In the second part there are some parameters influencing the difficulty of word problems. These parameters are selected mainly on the basis of the project of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic number 16-06134S - Word Problems as a Key to Application and Understanding of Mathematical Concepts and based on own experience in teaching. Some of these parameters I analyzed in mini case studies and my own teaching experience. In the last part of the thesis is my own recommendation for working with word problems. KEYWORDS word problems, parameters influencing the solution of word...

Word problems with a sports themes
ČEJKOVÁ, Šárka
Word problems are parts of everyday life and in teaching maths have an irreplaceable place. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to create an colection of word problems with a sports themes and approximate the applicability of mathematics curriculum in everyday life. Each exercise will be supllying the sample solution. Colection od word problems will be included into different sports games. In most samples are exercises, which work with programs MS Excel and GeoGeobra.
Selected parameters influencing the difficulty of word problems
Vokounová, Lenka ; Novotná, Jarmila (advisor) ; Vondrová, Naďa (referee)
1 ABSTRACT This thesis deals with selected parameters influencing the difficulty of word problems. The aim of the thesis is to identify some parameters that could influence the solution of word problems and show that the connection of mathematics with language makes sense and can point out the difficulties that mathematics teachers do not see in the task. The first part of the thesis is devoted to word problems in general. It deals with the importance of word problems in mathematics lessons, classification of word problems by mathematics and context. Finally, it deals with the solution of word problems. In the second part there are some parameters influencing the difficulty of word problems. Subsequently, the analysis of the influence of selected parameters on selected word problems is carried out on the basis of the project of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic number 16-06134S - Word Problems as a Key to Application and Understanding of Mathematical Concepts and based on own experience in teaching. In the last part of the thesis is my own recommendation for working with word problems. KEYWORDS word problems, parameters influencing the solution of word problems, solving of word problems
Pupils' solutions of open and polyvalent tasks
BÉZOVÁ, Petra
This diploma theses deals with pupils' solving of open and polyvalent math word problems for 6th to 9th grade of Czech primary schools. The main aim of this work is to find out how the pupils solve the word problems which have a number of strategies used in solving or which have more solutions. Another aim is to find out the variability of the pupils' solutions. This diploma theses is divided into four parts - Terminology, Design of Research, Results and Examples in Concept Cartoons. The first part deals with the research of word problems, open and polyvalent word problems and the Concept Cartoons method. The second part deals with the qualitative research of the pupils' solving of these word problems. The third part deals with the pupils' practical solutions in detail and the last part deals with the practical Concept Cartoons method.
Non-standard application tasks and problems
PRŮDKOVÁ, Kamila
The bachelor thesis deals with non-standard application tasks and problems in mathematics. The aim was to create a collection of tasks with their sample solution using the computer program GeoGebra for interactive geometry, algebra, and analysis. In addition to the content of tasks and their sample solution in text form, the result of this work is an online output in the form of a GeoGebra book. The above-mentioned multiplatform dynamic software GeoGebra can be recommended for teaching, visualization, solution, and analysis of tasks in mathematics.
An analysis of student solutions of mathematical tasks as a preparation for posing tasks in the Concept Cartoon format.
KRŠKOVÁ, Jana
This thesis deals with the Concept Cartoons method and quantitative analysis of data, which were taken from third year students written work, that focused on different approaches of solving mathematical tasks. The analysis focuses on right and wrong, common and less common solutions. Part of this work is the creation of Concept Cartoons questions. In the theoretical part, this method is described and mentioned as who is its creator. It also describes word problems and counting operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
